CBC’s Corporate Social Responsibility: Turnover, Ribbon Cutting, and Blessing of the newly Rehabilitated Barangay Arch of San Gabriel
The Cooperative Bank of Cagayan (CBC) volunteer work made public during the Turnover, Ribbon Cutting, and Blessing of the newly rehabilitated Barangay Arch of San Gabriel on December 23, 2024.
The CBC Corporate Social Responsibility is a mission attempting to have a positive impact on society, nature, and the local community where the business is operated, and one of those attempts is the rehabilitation of the barangay arch of San Gabriel, where the main branch and corporate office of the bank are situated.
Since the bank started operating on September 1, 1979, it has always taken into consideration the enhancement of society and the environment and how to positively contribute to the development of the local community through its financial products and other activities that promote camaraderie.
The said event was attended by the officers of Cooperative Bank of Cagayan, Brgy. Officials of San Gabriel and Representatives from the City Government Unit of Tuguegarao.
The Barangay Arch of San Gabriel is a manifestation that any significant collaboration or partnership between two or more entities is a catalyst for growth and progress.
45TH FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY - Feeding Program
As part of its 45th-anniversary celebration, the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan successfully held a feeding program and early gift giving at Agaga Elementary School in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, on October 9, 2024. This initiative aligns with the Bank’s commitment to community development, aiming to support the well-being and nourishment of local students. Through programs like these, the Bank continues to demonstrate its dedication to making a positive impact on the communities it serves.
45TH FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY
On September 1, 1979, the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan was established by 105 Samahang Nayons from various parts of Cagayan, Kalinga, and Apayao. As we commemorate CBC’s 45th Founding Anniversary, we honor the visionaries and contributors who have shaped the bank into what it is today. To celebrate this milestone, we have organized a series of activities that hold great significance for our members, employees, and communities.
Fun Run: “Groove and Move”
On August 31, 2024, CBC launched its first-ever “Groove and Move,” a Zumba and Fun Run activity aimed at fostering community engagement, promoting corporate wellness, and enhancing social responsibility. The event also provided a platform for networking, camaraderie, recognition, and increase brand visibility among the banking public.
A total of seventy three (73) participants joined the 4-kilometer fun run, which started and ended at the CBC Corporate Building. The event kicked off with a Zumba warm-up, followed by a briefing on the route and event details. Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in both the male and female categories.
One of the winners remarked, “It wasn’t just a run; it was a celebration of life and joy in this exciting and memorable event.”
Bloodletting Activity
On September 2, 2024, in collaboration with the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC), the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan held a bloodletting activity at the 3rd Floor of the CBC Corporate Building. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the critical importance of blood donations in saving lives.
The event was marked by the inspiring participation of employees, stockholders, and other individuals who volunteered to donate blood. A total of forty (40) blood bags were collected from the donors, which will be used to treat patients with various medical conditions.
Feeding Program
In the following days, CBC will continue its celebration by spreading care, unity, and love for the community through a “Feeding Program.” Community beneficiaries will be selected by branch managers and assistant branch managers.
Ms. Karina P. Bunagan, the Human Resource Head and the initiator of this activity, said, “As we celebrate our 45th Founding Anniversary, the CBC Feeding Program is a testament to our commitment to the communities we serve. This initiative within our branches and branchlites’ area of operation aims to alleviate hunger and enhance the nutrition of those in need. This meaningful celebration not only marked a significant milestone in the Bank’s history but also reinforced its mission to corporate social responsibility.”

Following the preparation and start of the commemorative events for the founding anniversary, the President/CEO, Atty. Robin James A. Gunnacao testified, “the 45th Founding Anniversary of the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan is a vivid manifestation of its resilience and unwavering pursuit of providing competitive financial access to all sectors in the countryside. Pursuant thereto, I would like to thank and congratulate our dear shareholders who have sacrificed a pool of their resources to come up with capital used in the operation during its maiden days, the employees/members who have religiously discharged their duties and responsibilities and who are ready and willing to walk extra miles to achieve the bank’s target, our banking public who have continuously reposed their trust and confidence by engaging the services of the Bank, and lastly, extend our utmost gratitude to our almighty God, the provider of everything. Happy 45th Founding Anniversary, and rest assured that we will undertake to continue making the Bank the leading and most trusted Cooperative Bank in Northern Luzon. “

Financial Literacy Seminar
Empowering Financial Literacy at Cooperative Bank of Cagayan.
On August 10, 2024, the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan took a significant step towards enhancing the financial acumen of its employees with a comprehensive Financial Literacy Seminar. This seminar was conducted in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) led by Ms. Eva-Lynne M. Marcos, Area Director of BSP Tuguegarao, and Ms. Maria Elena A. Madriaga, Bank Officer IV, the esteemed resource speaker of said seminar.
This pivotal event was held at 3rd Floor Training Hall, Coopbank Building, San Gabriel, Diversion Road, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, focused on essential topics including saving and budgeting, debt management, and the latest advancements in financial tools and programs.
The seminar was meticulously tailored to address the unique needs of our loans department, providing them with invaluable insights to better serve our client/members and manage their personal finances effectively. The discussions were both enlightening and practical, centering on fundamental principles of financial management that are crucial for both personal and professional success.
A key highlight of the seminar was the deep dive into saving and budgeting strategies. Participants learned effective techniques for managing and reducing debt, a crucial skill both for their personal lives and for providing sound advice to clients struggling with similar challenges. The insights gained will undoubtedly enhance their ability to offer practical solutions and support. These skills are not only vital for personal financial health but also play a critical role in advising clients on how to achieve their financial goals.
Debt management was another critical topic covered. The seminar provided a thorough understanding of managing debt responsibly, offering tools and techniques to help individuals maintain a healthy credit profile while effectively managing existing obligations. This session equipped Coopbank employees with the knowledge to assist clients in navigating their debt challenges more effectively.
A notable segment of the seminar was the discussion on the “Know Your Money” initiative and the 1,000-Peso polymer banknote. Ms. Madriaga’s detailed overview of the new polymer banknote’s security features and benefits was both informative and essential, equipping our team with the knowledge to better educate our clients about currency safety and fraud prevention.
Moreover, the seminar shed light on the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program. This initiative aims to foster a more inclusive financial ecosystem by promoting digital transactions in local markets. Understanding and embracing this program will support the ongoing digital transformation in financial services, aligning with broader national goals. This program will also enable our employees to support the ongoing digital transition and assist clients in navigating new financial technologies.
The feedback from our employees has been overwhelmingly positive. They found the seminar not only informative but also inspiring, providing them with practical tools and enhanced knowledge that will undoubtedly improve their professional performance and personal financial practices.
